The New Year’s Eve festivities drew in more than 50,000 spectators, creating a vibrant atmosphere of celebration and joy as people gathered to welcome the arrival of the new year.
Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) secured one of its two record-breaking titles with the achievement of the ‘Longest chain of aquatic floating fireworks,’ spanning an impressive total distance of 5.8 kilometers.
Ras Al Khaimah ushered in the New Year with a spectacular eight-minute-long firework and drone display, achieving two Guinness World Record titles along a 4.5km stretch of the waterfront. The records include the ‘Longest chain of aquatic floating fireworks,’ covering an impressive 5.8km, and the ‘Longest straight-line drones display’ spanning a total length of 2km.
The groundbreaking show incorporated innovative techniques, featuring 1,050 LED drones, a ‘carpet’ of aquatic floating fireworks, and an acrobatic pyro planes display inspired by Ras Al Khaimah’s natural wonders— the desert, the sea, and the mountains. The entire performance was meticulously choreographed to music specially composed for the celebration.
Raki Phillips, Chief Executive Officer of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, expressed, “Breaking two more Guinness titles has set the stage for an unforgettable night of celebration, bringing together thousands of visitors and residents. As we kick off the new year, 2023 has been an exceptional year for tourism in Ras Al Khaimah, with numerous achievements and the highest-ever annual number of visitors recorded, propelling the Nature Emirate further in attracting over three million annual visitors by 2030.”
Uniting the entire community, the festivities drew in more than 50,000 spectators and led to full bookings at hotels across the Emirate, marking it as the most attended show to date. The event provided multiple viewing areas accessible to the public, featuring family activities, food trucks, and live entertainment. Another group of celebrants enjoyed the festivities at the ticketed event experience, SoundFest, where live bands from various parts of the world entertained the crowds in the initial hours of 2024.
