A resident of Saudi Arabia has been sentenced to five years in prison for an attempted gold smuggling incident. The Public Prosecution’s financial fraud unit revealed that the individual was apprehended with 16 gold bars, each of 24-carat purity, concealed in a suitcase at one of the Kingdom’s international airports as he prepared to depart.

The man was swiftly arrested and charged with violating anti-money laundering regulations. Authorities confiscated the smuggled gold, and upon completion of his prison term, the individual will face deportation, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Monday.
