The UAE declares a paid public holiday for private sector employees on New Year’s Day.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Human Resources has officially announced a public holiday on January 1, 2024 (Monday) to mark the New Year. This declaration extends the weekend to three days, allowing residents to enjoy an extended break in celebration of the upcoming year.

In a tweet posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization announced, “The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation declares Monday, 1 January 2024, as New Year’s Day, a paid holiday for all private sector employees in the UAE.”

Furthermore, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources also communicated a New Year holiday for federal government employees on January 1, 2024, through an Instagram post.
