In a significant development, Caretaker Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Dr. Umar Saif, has revealed that PayPal is poised to offer its services in Pakistan. International payments in the country will be facilitated through a third-party gateway, as PayPal establishes its presence in Pakistan through a strategic partnership.
Sources within the IT ministry anticipate that the launch of this initiative will have a positive impact on Pakistan’s freelance community.

In a related move, last week, Dr. Umar Saif disclosed plans for a government project set to initiate the establishment of 10,000 nationwide E-Rozgar centers, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to support freelancers and startups, beginning January 11.
This initiative aims to address challenges faced by approximately 1.5 million freelancers who lack suitable workspaces. Dr. Umar emphasized that providing freelancers with the tools and environment to thrive in the digital landscape is crucial.
The establishment of joint E-Rozgar centers is expected to boost investment in the country and generate new employment opportunities.
Dr. Umar encouraged the youth to explore entrepreneurship, citing the potential for earning higher stipends per month through E-Rozgar.
